High Point University is unique. It is certainly one of the most beautiful schools I have ever visited, with neoclassical buildings, cascading fountains, massive flowerbeds, crystal chandeliers, and hallways that make one think of a five-star hotel. Oh, and did I mention granite bathrooms in the residence halls? But of course none of that is important compared to the quality of the academic programs. This school of about 5000 students has been revitalized by President Nido Qubein. Under his leadership, four new schools have been added: the Nido Qubein School of Communication, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Art and Design, and the School of Pharmacy. Now this is a school in the South, and by Bay Area standards is definitely on the conservative side, but for the right student, High Point University is well worth a visit.
