The first step in getting financial aid is filling out the FAFSA, and since the money is allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, get organized and ready to file on January 1st! You will need a PIN number, go to www.pin.ed.gov to apply. Once you have your PIN you will need the following information to complete the FAFSA: your social security number (the parents’ Social Security numbers for dependent students), driver’s license number, and federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information. The FAFSA website provides plenty of help and guidance to get you through.
